Orthoclase, or orthoclase feldspar (endmember formula K Al Si 3 O 8), is an important tectosilicate mineral which forms igneous rock. The name is from the Ancient Greek for "straight fracture," because its two cleavage planes are at right angles to each other.
Feldspar is the name given to a group of tectosilicates with various minerals such as aluminium, sodium, potassium and calcium, and includes the crystals Amazonite, Labradorite, Moonstone, Orthoclase and Sunstone.
Photograph by Jem. Feldspar is the umbrella name for a family of silicates which include Amazonite, Labradorite, Sunstone and Moonstone. The properties of Feldspars vary widely (for example, Labradorite, Amazonite, Moonstone and Sunstone all have very different qualities).
Feldspar They are employed in large percentages in almost all clay bodies and in most glazes. There are hundreds of different brand names, try to get a quartz content figure from your supplier.

Quartz, feldspar and chlorite minerals indicated that the sediments were transported from igneous and metamorphic rocks and the hematite and goethite indicated the continental environment for the studied formation.
The feldspar group of minerals is unusual among gemstones which are usually considered the rarest of objects, for as a group, feldspar is the most common mineral known to man. Although quartz is more abundant in the earth's crust than any single feldspar mineral, the feldspar group exceeds quartz in abundance.

In other cases, quartz is the predominant material, and in still other cases, where the best kaolin is produced, the proportion of both quartz and mica are small, and the feldspar is the prevailing material.
Feldspar is a common raw material used in glassmaking, ceramics, and to some extent as a filler and extender in paint, plastics, and rubber. In glassmaking, alumina from feldspar improves product hardness, durability, and resistance to chemical corrosion.

The Quartz Corp offers a range of feldspars, including sodium, potassium, and mixed feldspars. Feldspars are aluminosilicates. Their fusibility and purity make them an essential raw material with many industrial applications.
This greatly facilitates the melting of quartz and clays and, through appropriate mixing, allows modulations of this important step of ceramic making. Feldspars are used as fluxing agents to form a glassy phase at low temperatures and as a source of alkalies and alumina in glazes. They improve the strength, toughness, and durability of the ...
